My name’s Nick and I created this website as an outlet for everything I’ve learned through years of trial and
error associated with health, training, discipline, fatherhood and everyday life.
I’m a father of 3. I’ve been a health and fitness fanatic through my teenage years and adult life. With previous experience in the IT industry but I’ve been a tradesman for the past 20 years so I understand physical exhaustion, early mornings, sore joints and trying to maintain energy while balancing work, family and responsibilities.
I currently live on a one and a half acre property on an old dairy farm which suits me perfectly, although I’m originally from the city. The older I become the more I appreciate quieter environments, open space and being away from constant noise and chaos where possible. After 20 years I’m now pretty handy on the tools. Building, repairing and improving different areas on our property.
I work on a wide variety of commercial and residential job sites, collaborating alongside professionals from nearly every trade. This hands-on environment has given me the opportunity to learn directly from electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, carpenters, masons, and countless other skilled craftsmen. Being surrounded by experts in their respective fields has expanded my knowledge far beyond my own profession and given me a deep appreciation for the skill and tools used.
The reviews and recommendations featured on my website are based on real-world experience, either from my own hands-on use of the products or from feedback and insights shared by the skilled tradespeople I work alongside every day. I only discuss products that I have personally tested, researched extensively, or have seen perform reliably in professional commercial and residential environments. My goal is to provide honest, practical opinions that reflect actual job-site experience rather than marketing claims.
That being said, I’m a tradie during the day, but I do make an effort when I’m off the tools. I’d like to believe hi-vis and steel toe caps are peak fashion, however you’ll find plenty of recommendations focused on looking sharp outside of work gear too.
Over the years I’ve experimented with just about every diet, supplement, training method and health protocol under the sun. Some approaches improved my energy and mental clarity dramatically. Others were a complete waste of time and money. A few made me feel worse!
Believing the western pharmaceutical route was the answer to my health issues I discovered after 18 years on medication and regular liver and kidney tests that in fact western medicine was predominately toxic for the body and mind. I’ll be brutally honest, during tough times I shamefully resorted to alcohol for escapism. Reaching rock bottom, I studied Ayurveda (Eastern natural health) and soon became the healthiest and happiest I’d ever been in my life.
After years of self experimentation I’ve gradually built my own personal health protocol that helps me function at optimum levels physically and mentally.
I’ve always had a strong interest in technology, gadgets, productivity systems and practical equipment that improves efficiency or solves problems. I’ve also been fortunate to be successful through crypto investments over the years, which further expanded my interest in emerging technologies, decentralisation and alternative ways of thinking outside conventional systems.
During my time as a website designer, I experienced one of the most devastating setbacks of my professional life: I was hacked. The incident was a harsh wake-up call that exposed just how vulnerable our digital lives can be. What started as a painful experience quickly became a turning point. Determined to understand how it happened and how to prevent it from ever happening again, I immersed myself in the world of cybersecurity, privacy, and digital defense. Since then, I’ve developed an obsession with protecting my online presence, devices, and data.
Today, I take a security-first approach to technology, even custom-building my phones with GrapheneOS to maximize privacy and control. That experience transformed me from someone who simply used technology into someone who is deeply committed to understanding and securing it.
This website is about practical living as a modern father. The older I become the more I realise performance isn’t only built in the gym. It’s built through routines, mindset, quality sleep, useful equipment, better habits, reducing stress and creating systems that make daily life easier.
That’s why you’ll also find articles about dad gear, recovery tools, productivity, training, mindset, technology and practical resources that genuinely improve quality of life.
I’m not interested in fake guru culture, recycled motivational quotes or pretending to have life completely figured out. Most of what I write comes from personal experience, observation, research and applying different methods consistently over long periods of time.
If a particular supplement, product or routine genuinely improves my quality of life, I’ll talk about it openly. If something feels overrated or poorly designed, I’ll tell you that too.
I created Alpha Dad Mode because I wanted to build the type of website I’d actually read myself. Straightforward information without unnecessary hype, corporate sounding nonsense or artificial positivity.
At the end of the day most fathers are tired, overworked and carrying a lot of responsibility. I think having better systems, better health, better routines and better tools can genuinely improve quality of life over time.
